Dec. 30, 2009 (China Knowledge) - China National Petroleum Corp, the country's largest oil and gas producer and supplier, said that its overseas businesses has continued rising in spite of the global economic crisis.
Zhou Jiping, president of CNPC, said its annual overseas crude oil production capacity grew from 62.2 million tons last year to 70 million tons this year and that its annual overseas natural gas production capacity grew from 6.7 billion cubic meters last year to 10 billion cubic meters this year.
Zhou added that CNPC currently has 81 projects in 29 countries and has five oil and gas cooperation zones, one each in Africa, Central Asia, the Middle-East, Asia Pacific and North America. In addition, the company has 550 overseas project teams providing services in 60 countries. It exports equipment to 69 countries and regions, and the annual trade has exceeded 140 million tons in volume and US$62 billion in value.
Reportedly, in 2009, CNPC has won projects in Iraq, Iran, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Recently it inked a new deal with Russian's biggest natural gas producer, Gazprom, on natural gas supply.
